Waddell Block

Waddell Block, (Designed by William Thomas 1845) Walton Street, Port Hope.

Intention was to accurately restore the building exterior based on remaining historic fabric and historic photographs. Process involved developing working drawings and specifications for replicating/restoring windows, shop fronts and doorways, shop front cornice, masonry conservation, replication of original paint colours, and replication of the roof top lantern. Project funded by the Ontario Ministry of Culture.

An overall view with restoration underway. The roof top lantern, partially
visible here, was reconstructed based on many original pieces that had
been tossed into the attic when it had been demolished in the early 20th C.

The completed Walton St. façade showing the shop fronts restored based
on details in historic photos and small amounts of remaining historic fabric.
