Rutherford House

Rutherford House, (c.1910) Edmonton, Alberta


Responsible for building analysis, working drawings, specifications and site supervision for the restoration of period kitchen, bathrooms and servants quarters in home of Alberta's first premier. For Historic Sites Services, Alberta Culture.



Originally Rutherford house sat in open land with a panoramic view of the North Saskatchewan River but it is now part of the University of Alberta campus.




Plumbing fixtures were located based on holes and marks in the floor, the original colours were reproduced and necessary items such as tables were designed and reproduced based on oral history.     




Missing doors, trim and wainscoting were reproduced based on extant examples and ghost images.
