Christ Church Cathedral, Montreal

For this project Craig is assisting EVOQ Architecture as metal conservator for the restoration of the spire. Due to structural problems the original stone spire was rebuilt in 1940 with a steel structure clad in cast aluminum panels made to mimic the original stone. This metal assembly has to be removed to facilitate structural masonry work beneath and then will be conserved and reinstalled.

This is an overall view of the church.

From a distance the cast aluminum mimics masonry very successfully.

As part of the preliminary planning cleaning mock ups were undertaken.
