Book House

Book House, (1817) Ancaster, Ontario.


This project required the preparation of a historic structures report, condition survey and cost estimates for this early United Empire Loyalist home, the oldest brick house in Ancaster Township. Original details were documented and recorded. For the City of Hamilton LACAC.




Partial view of front elevation. Construction of the house was interrupted
by the War of 1812 in which John Book and his sons served on the Niagara frontier.




A view of the main entrance from the centre hall 
showing the original trim and doors.  The original 
side light sashes were found in the attic.
